LCW Welcomes Award-winning Print Journalist and Author Lisa Bartelt Saturday, 02/22/20: PLEASE NOTE THIS IS 4TH SATURDAY OF MONTH, NOT 3RD

We hope you enjoyed last month's snow day. No worries about missing out on the fabulous speaker we'd scheduled for that day. She has graciously rescheduled for March. Meanwhile, Lancaster Christian Writers would like to invite you AGAIN to kick off your 2020 writing year Saturday, February 22, 2020, at Lancaster Alliance Church, 210 Pitney Rd (off Hwy 30 across from Costco) from 9:30AM-12 noon (registration opens at 9) with award-winning journalist, author and blogger Lisa Bartelt. Please note this is 4th, not 3rd Saturday of month due to some scheduling conflicts.

WORKSHOP: How to Keep Going in All Kinds of Weather: Lessons for Writers from Running. When author and journalist Lisa Bartelt started running two years ago, she quickly learned there was seldom a perfect day for getting outside and training. Some days it rained. Others were sunny. Some days it was cold. Other days were hot and humid. If she waited for the perfect conditions, she’d never run. The same principle applies to writing. Over the past two decades , Lisa has found a way to write in a variety of seasons: single with a full-time job, married with a full-time job, as a stay-at-home-mom, through trauma, trying to make writing a full-time job, and treating it as a part-time job while holding down another part-time job outside of writing. In this workshop, Lisa will share eight lessons she’s learned from running that help her be a more consistent writer no matter the “weather.”

SPEAKER:  Lisa Bartelt is a freelance writer and editor whose work has appeared in Chicken Soup for the Soul books, The Upper Room, Prayer Connect magazine, and The One Year Book of Joy and Laughter. She was one of fifteen winners in CBE International’s annual writing contest in 2018 and has served as a judge for writing contests hosted by Writer’s Digest and American Christian Fiction Writers. She was a journalist and editor for daily newspapers in Illinois for nearly ten years, where she won awards for both writing and editing. She blogs at http://lisabartelt.com

SNOW ALERT!!! Please Take Note that Due to Expected Heavy Snow, LCW Meeting for 1/18/20 Is Cancelled

SNOW ALERT!!! Lancaster Christian Writers meeting for tomorrow, Saturday, January 18th, is cancelled due to expected heavy snow storm. Snow is expected to start 9am and to continue heavily throughout day with extremely icy conditions on road at a height about the time meeting is scheduled to end. After consultation with speaker, the decision has been made that safety for our many members driving home especially takes priority, so with reluctance we are calling a Snow Day. Enjoy the storm from the warmth of your fireside, hopefully curled up with a good book in true writer fashion, and we will be rescheduling our planned speaker as soon as possible.

Blessings,

LCW Welcomes Award-winning Speaker and Author Donna Smith Saturday, 01/18/20 PLUS See Press Release for Super Saturday 2020

Have you ever struggled with your call to write? Received a rejection letter? Wondered if your writing was a worthwhile investment of your time? Then you won't want to miss this month's Lancaster Christian Writers workshop Saturday, January 18, 2020, at Lancaster Alliance Church, 210 Pitney Rd (off Hwy 30 across from Costco) from 9:30AM-12 noon (registration opens at 9) with award-winning author and speaker Donna Smith.

WORKSHOP:  Dealing with Rejection. Rejection can feel like a paper cut or a knife in the heart. Are you oversensitive when someone criticizes you? Do you get extremely upset when someone corrects you? Does rejection of any kind derail you for a significant amount of time? This workshop is developed especially for writers, especially since rejection is something we all go through, above all, at the beginning of our journey to publication. Learning to handle rejection at any stage of our writing journey is important. Keys to healing and freedom will be shared, plus two unusual stories of rejection and how they were processed to healing.

SPEAKER: Donna L.H. Smith is a Kansas prairie girl transplanted to Lancaster County, PA. She is a graduate of Christian Writer’s Guild Craftsman program and holds two college degrees, both B.S. and M.A. in Mass Communication. Her debut novel, Meghan’s Choice, made the finals of both the Selah and Will Rogers Medallion Awards in 2018. Rose’s Redemption, second in the series, placed third in Western Fiction at the 2019 Selah Awards. She has served as ACFW (American Christian Fiction Writers) Mid-Atlantic Zone Director and is a member of AWSA’s Protégé program (Advanced Writers & Speaker’s Association). Donna has been healed and delivered from a lifetime of suffering rejection, and has a heart to help others find healing and freedom. Visit her at https://donnalhsmith.com/

SUPER SATURDAY 2020!!! We have our date for this year's LCW one-day conference, Saturday, April 18th, at Lancaster Bible College. Flyer and web data will be available soon.
